Butterfly Network and Mendaera finalize deal on surgical robotic system

Ultrasound technology developer Butterfly Network and surgical robotics developer Mendaera have entered a technology development agreement to commercialize a novel surgical robotic system.

According to the agreement, the companies will develop a new interventional robotic system powered by Butterfly's ultrasound-on-chip technology. The system is designed to improve precision and consistency for a broad range of image-guided, needle-based interventions. Uupon commercialization, the deal includes revenue share for every unit sold, Butterfly said.

The agreement follows Mendaera’s announcement in August that it had secured $24 million in series A funding, and the company recently completed the research and design process for the novel robotic system.
