Rivanna lands $800K grant to advance diagnostic ultrasound system

Rivanna has secured an $800,000 grant from the Virginia Catalyst Program to further develop its Accuro 3S diagnostic ultrasound system.

The company aims to automate spinal landmark identification and facilitate continuous needle tracking in neuraxial anesthesia procedures, using the device's dual-array ultrasound probe in concert with its SpineNav-AI machine learning algorithm, it explained.

Virginia Catalyst will support the finalization and clinical validation of advanced product features integral to the performance of Accuro 3S, according to Rivanna.

In an academic-industry partnership, William Manson, MD, from the University of Virginia, and David Evans, MD, from Virginia Commonwealth University, will lead clinical and integration studies for Accuro 3S. Their research will assess the system's platform readiness for clinical adoption, Rivanna said.
