Philips has introduced the eV14-2v transvaginal transducer for gynecology and early obstetrics ultrasound, following receipt of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance and the CE mark.
The transducer delivers a 41.7% increase in penetration, a 10% increase in 2D resolution, and a 15.8% improvement in field of view compared with its predecessor, while weighing 22% less, according to Philips. Built on PureWave crystal technology, the eV14-2v supports imaging across routine and complex gynecology exams and early obstetrics, including visualization relevant to evaluating infertility, pelvic pain, endometriosis, and fibroids. The transducer can delineate fetal cardiac chambers as early as 13 weeks, the company said.
The eV14-2v is compatible with Philips Collaboration Live, supporting real-time remote consultation during ultrasound exams. Philips will showcase the transducer at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ISUOG) World Congress, September 4 to 7 in London.
