SimonMed launches discounted whole-body MRI for veterans

SimonMed is launching what it is calling the Shield Program, a permanent initiative offering military personnel, veterans, and first responders 20% off its Longevity whole-body MRI screening.

The exam evaluates 13 or more organs and systems in a single, radiation-free scan -- including the brain, spine, chest, abdomen, and pelvic organs -- and may help identify potential abnormalities associated with certain cancers, fatty liver disease, aneurysms, and musculoskeletal or spinal degeneration, according to the company. No referral is required, and HSA and FSA funds may be used, SimonMed said.

Each scan includes a virtual clinical consultation to review findings, and patients may have access to follow-up imaging across SimonMed's network if additional evaluation is recommended, the firm noted. The program is available to veterans, active-duty military, reserve and National Guard members, police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics.

The Shield Program launched May 18, Armed Forces Day, and is available at SimonMed locations across the U.S.
