Jubilant to invest CAD 94.5M in manufacturing facility

Jubilant Pharma subsidiary Jubilant DraxImage is investing 94.5 million CAD ($66.2 million USD) in its Kirkland, Quebec, radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility to double output of its rubidium-82 chloride cardiac PET agent, Ruby-Fill.

The Canadian government will provide 23.8 million CAD ($16.7 USD) in financial support for the modernization project through the Strategic Response Fund’s innovation funding stream, CNBC reported October 9.

The funding will go toward modernizing production lines, building new production space, and upgrading laboratory, storage, and shipping areas, according to the report. Jubiliant DraxImage will also support research collaborations with Canadian universities, research institutions, and small and medium-sized enterprises in areas including AI-assisted diagnostics and nuclear medicine.

In addition to Ruby-Fill, the Kirkland facility also produces technetium-99m (Tc-99m) products for diagnostic SPECT procedures and iodine-131 (I-131) for treating thyroid disease and neuroblastoma.
