P.E.T.Net Pharmaceuticals has licensed a technology portfolio from the University of California, Los Angeles for labeling beta-amyloid plaques, which may be useful in detecting and treating Alzheimer's disease.
P.E.T.Net intends to use the technology to develop its own diagnostic tests, as well as participate in research partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, according to the Knoxville, TN-based firm. The technology licensed by P.E.T.Net was used by UCLA researchers to create an image that received Image of the Year honors at the 2001 edition of the Society of Nuclear Medicine meeting.
