BAMF Health-affiliated nonprofit Foundation for Medical Advancement and Breakthroughs (FMAB) has announced a founding board and fundraising effort to expand access to theranostics.
In the announcement, BAMF Health noted that access to theranostics is often limited by costs that fall outside insurance coverage or research protocols.
FMAB plans to prioritize financial assistance for treatment costs not fully covered by insurance or research protocols, as well as imaging, lodging, and travel needs as they arise, according to BAMF Health. The founding board aims to raise $2 million to establish a patient access fund for underinsured and uninsured patients while exploring several innovative research project investments, the organization said.
Established in December 2024 as a 501(c)(3), FMAB is a direct result of grateful BAMF Health patients and their families, BAMF Health aded. The founding board includes Bill Payne, principal at BP Ventures; Lowell Fernander, MD, vice president of benefits and wellness and chief medical officer at Rocket; Brittany Merrifield, MD, at Corewell Health; and Denise Christy from ArtiMed, among others.
FMAB also supports investigator-initiated research that can move quickly, answer meaningful questions, and accelerate progress where traditional funding falls short, as well as increasing understanding and awareness of theranostics among patients, providers, and communities, BAMF Health said.
