Fluorescence imaging for wound care firm MolecuLight is highlighting results from a review published June 22 in the International Wound Journal.
Titled "The Clinical Utility of Autofluorescence Imaging for Bacterial Detection in Wounds" and written by researchers at Trinity College Dublin and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the review consists of data compiled from 17 studies on fluorescence imaging.
The review concluded that MolecuLight's i:X device improves wound assessment by providing clinicians real-time, actionable information to detect elevated bacterial burden, the company said. In one publication included in the review, MolecuLight i:X led clinicians to change their treatment plans 68.9% of the time.
