Carestream unveils antiscatter software

Carestream Health has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for software designed to reduce scatter radiation in x-ray images and eliminate the need for an antiscatter grid.

The company's SmartGrid software is available as an option on Carestream's portable and room-based DRX imaging systems and DRX-1 retrofit systems.

Carestream expects the software to begin shipping in the third quarter.
