Electron-beam tomography vendor Imatron reported record revenues of $62.4 million in 2000, up 66% from 1999 revenues of $37.5 million. For the year (end-December 31), the South San Francisco, CA-based firm had net income after taxes of $6.3 million, compared with a net loss of $6.6 million last year. Imatron sold 33 systems in 2000, compared with 19 in 1999.
For the fourth quarter, Imatron had revenues of $17.9 million, up 39% compared with the $12.9 million posted in the same period last year. Imatron had net income after taxes of $3.5 million, compared with net income of $45,000 in 1999.
The strong sales growth was due in part to Imatron’s expanded sales force, as well as demand for EBT technology resulting from increased public awareness and medical community acceptance, said CEO Lewis Meyer. Imatron believes these factors will contribute to further growth in 2001.
