Cytogen notches record revenues

Biopharmaceutical firm Cytogen reported record second-quarter revenues of $3.9 million, up 129.4% compared with the $1.7 million turned in a year ago. For the period (end-June 30), the Princeton, NJ-based vendor had a net loss of $4.4 million, compared with a net loss of $3.4 million in the second quarter of 2003.

Doctors and engineers at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have designed a remotely guided teleradiology system that enables them to perform ultrasound exams on their colleagues in space. The project began in a windswept Arctic crater, moved to zero-gravity testing aboard a suborbital aircraft, and finally to the International Space Station.

CT/MRI fusion is a waste of time for postbrachytherapy imaging of the prostate, say researchers from Boston and Vienna. Not only does contrast-enhanced MRI detect seeds nearly as well as CT, they say, but MRI’s superior soft-tissue contrast properties often make it the only way to tell whether seeds have migrated outside the organ.
