Contrast-enhanced coronary CT angiography (CTA) is the new cardiac imaging test on the block. But does it offer a prognostic benefit? To start answering this question, researchers at the Weill Cornell College of Medicine in New York City examined more than 1,000 patients with chest pain or other symptoms suggestive of coronary artery disease using 64-detector-row CT angiography, and followed them over 15 months.

Breast radiotherapy studies propose shorter treatment, confirm lack of cardiac risk

The toxicity associated with radiation therapy for breast cancer is the focus of two new papers. In the first, Philadelphia-based researchers tightened up the radiotherapy course length, partly in an effort to reduce skin toxicity. And in the second, the authors investigated if radiation treatment increased the risk of cardiac toxicity.
