Norland Q3 revenues sag

Bone densitometry provider Norland Medical Systems reported third-quarter revenues of $2.8 million, down 36.3% compared with the $4.4 million in sales posted in the same period last year. For the quarter (end-September 30), the White Plains, NY-based firm had a net loss of $658,000, compared with a net loss of $363,000 in 1999.

Norland had anticipated a temporary decrease in bone densitometer sales as it was establishing stronger national distribution in the U.S, according to chairman and CEO Reynald Bonmati. The firm anticipated that sales of new products under the company’s diversification program would offset the decline. However, the vendor’s main new product is still under review by the Food and Drug Administration, Bonmati said.
