The RSNA and its Research & Education (R&E) Foundation are launching a new grant named for the late Christopher G. Ullrich, MD, and his wife Betsy C. Ullrich, following a $3 million estate gift from the couple -- the largest single donation in the foundation's 40-year history.
The Ullrich Research Resident Grant will be funded for the first time in 2026. Since its founding in 1984, the R&E Foundation has awarded more than $88 million in grants to researchers and educators in medical imaging and patient care, according to the foundation.
Ullrich was a longtime RSNA member who served as assembly faculty at the RSNA annual meeting and as a member of the Technical Exhibits Committee. He died in 2021; Betsy Ullrich, a philanthropist who supported animal rescue efforts, died in March 2025.
