SalaryScan marches on; new CMS rules for IDTFs

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

Thousands of imaging professionals have already filled out our SalaryScan Survey -- are you one of them?

If not, you're missing a chance to win one of 10 iPod Shuffle MP3 music players we're giving away to thank those who participate in SalaryScan, our annual survey of compensation and benefits for imaging professionals.

Are you feeling lucky? Just point your browser to salaryscan.auntminnie.com and fill out the short survey, which will take just a few minutes of your time. Your responses will be used to update our SalaryScan data query tool, so the entire imaging community will benefit even if you're not an iPod winner.

When you're done, head over to our Imaging Center Digital Community, where we're featuring a new story by staff writer Jonathan S. Batchelor on changes to Medicare rules covering independent diagnostic testing facilities (IDTFs). Some types of imaging centers have to file as IDTFs to receive Medicare reimbursement.

The changes could be a mixed bag for imaging facilities. On the one hand, some rules take aim at controversial practices like equipment leasing, which is viewed with disdain by many center operators. On the other hand, the proposals could make it much more difficult for new centers to open using an IDTF certification.
