The Access to Medical Imaging Coalition (AMIC) said that changes in the control and political makeup of the U.S. Congress will not deter its effort to delay imaging reimbursement cuts included in the Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) of 2005, which are scheduled to begin in January 2007.
The AMIC, a lobbying group of physicians, patients, and providers formed to oppose the DRA, supports passage of the Access to Medicare Imaging Act (H.R. 5704, S. 3795), which would delay implementation of the DRA's cuts in imaging reimbursement for two years while the Government Accountability Office studies their impact on Medicare patients, particularly those in rural and medically underserved areas.
