Univ. of Miss. appoints Duszak as radiology department chair

The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) is appointing Dr. Richard Duszak Jr. as its new chair of radiology, effective July 1.

Duszak is currently professor and vice chair for health policy and practice in the department of radiology and imaging sciences at the Emory University in Atlanta.

Duszak received his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. Afterward, he completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Duke University and his fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of Pennsylvania.

He previously served as president and CEO of West Reading Radiology Associates in West Reading, PA, and later as both diagnostic and interventional radiologist at Mid-South Imaging and Therapeutics in Memphis. He was also the founding CEO of Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute in Reston, VA.

Additionally, in 2014, he received AuntMinnie.com's Minnies award for Most Influential Radiology Researcher.

Duszak will succeed Dr. Edward Green, who has served as interim chair of the department since September 2020.
