Advanced Medical Isotopes licenses actinium patent

Medical isotope developer Advanced Medical Isotopes of Kennewick, WA, reported that it has licensed a U.S. patent for preparing actinium-225.

The patent, 6,680,993, was issued to Scott Schenter and Stanley Satz in January 2004, and involves the methods and processes directed to the preparation of actinium-225 and its daughter isotopes, which can be used for both therapeutic and diagnostic purposes, according to Advanced Medical Isotopes.

The firm said the radioisotope may also be used for the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals for linkage to therapeutics such as those containing monoclonal antibodies, proteins, peptides, antisense, statin, natural products, and hormones.
