MDS Nordion to help create molecular imaging center

MDS Nordion of Kanata, Ontario, is collaborating with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in Ontario to establish a Molecular Imaging Centre of Excellence to advance cardiology research.

MDS Nordion will invest an estimated $2.2 million (U.S.) in this new center, which will feature a research and development radiochemistry laboratory to support cardiology research. The facility is scheduled to open before the end of the year on the institute's campus.

The company also will provide molecular imaging services to large pharmaceutical companies to help them bring new drugs to market.

MDS Nordion made the announcement at this week's annual meeting of the SMN in Washington, DC.
