Cardiac Science settles litigation with Philips

Cardiac device developer Cardiac Science has announced a settlement of its patent litigation with Andover, MA-based Philips Medical Systems.

The Bothell, WA, firm said that under the terms of the agreement all claims by each company have been dismissed, and each side has been granted rights to each other's respective defibrillation-technology patents.

In addition, Cardiac Science has been granted a perpetual royalty-free worldwide license to certain other defibrillation patents of Philips not associated with the suit, in exchange for a one-time payment of $1 million.
