Siemens releases new VC software version

Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA, has released a new version of its computer-assisted reading software for virtual colonoscopy.

Syngo Colonography PEV (polyp-enhanced viewing) is an automated second reader tool for the visualization of lesions in the colon that focuses on detecting polyps 6-25 mm in size. The new version, available with Siemens' syngo Colonography CT application, adds support to a wider range of protocols commonly employed in CT colonography today, including stool-tagging agents, according to the company.

Another new feature is a data auto-processing tool that automatically processes data from a Siemens CT scanner as it arrives at a syngo multimodality workstation. When the radiologist accesses the data using the syngo Colonography CT application, potential lesions are identified and ready for review when the reader accesses the PEV function, the company said.
