Decreased sales in its Medical Systems Group prompted a drop in revenues for Del Global Technologies in its second fiscal quarter of 2009.
For the quarter (end-January 31), consolidated net sales for the Franklin Park, IL-based company decreased 17% to $24.7 million, compared with $29.9 million in the second quarter of 2008. Medical Systems Group sales of $21.5 million were $5.7 million less than the same quarter of 2008, down 21%, due primarily to lower international sales.
The company's consolidated net loss in the second quarter was $1.8 million, compared with net income of $1.4 million in the second quarter of 2008.
For the six-month period, net sales slipped to $47 million, down 17% compared with $56.7 million in the same period of 2008. Del Global's net loss was $2.4 million, compared with a net loss of $2.5 million in the prior year's six-month period.
