Costs deflate Sectra's Q3 profit

Increased costs on the development of new radiological IT systems cut into the profit margin of Swedish PACS and digital mammography developer Sectra in its third fiscal quarter of 2010.

For the quarter (end-January 31), the Linköping-based company's net sales slipped 11% to 201.2 million kronor ($28.1 million U.S.), compared with 226.1 million kronor ($31.6 million) in the third quarter of fiscal 2009. The company also posted an operating loss of 2.5 million kronor ($350,000), compared with a profit of 1.4 million kronor ($196,000) in the same quarter a year ago.

Net sales for the nine-month period slipped 1% to 592.9 million kronor ($83 million), compared with 599.5 million kronor ($83.9 million) in the same period of 2009.
