Siemens unveils women's imaging US unit

Siemens Healthcare has introduced a premium ultrasound scanner dedicated to women's imaging at the World Congress on Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology this week in Hamburg, Germany.

A version of Siemens' Acuson S2000 ultrasound system, S2000 - Women's Imaging can provide 2D, Doppler, and 3D/4D imaging for maternal-fetal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and breast applications, according to the Malvern, PA-based vendor.

The system features Siemens' 3D Dynamic TCE tissue contrast-enhancement technology, syngo Auto OB tool for automatic routine fetal biometry measurements, syngo Vector Velocity Imaging (VVI) fetal echocardiography technology, and Fetal Heart STIC (spatiotemporal image correlation) imaging for creating 3D fetal heart volumes.

It also includes Siemens' fourSight 3D/4D data acquisition, rendering, and postprocessing package, a transducer specially designed for automated ultrasound breast volume scanning, and the company's eSie Touch application for elasticity imaging, the company said.
