U-Systems adds to clinical study

Ultrasound developer U-Systems and the University of Kansas Breast Imaging Center in Kansas City have initiated the somo-InSIGHT clinical study.

Led by radiologist Dr. Marc Inciardi, the first participants have been enrolled in the study, which will examine whether digital mammography with the somo.v automated breast ultrasound system (ABUS) is more sensitive in detecting breast lesions than mammography alone in women with dense breasts.

Researchers plan to recruit more than 20,000 women into the study, which includes George Washington University in Washington, DC, according to U-Systems of Sunnyvale, CA.
