Fenics prepares launch of mammo viewer, readies CAD

Advanced visualization software developer Fenics of Lyon, France, is preparing to launch a new family of products, called Intelligent Diagnosis System, which includes a mammography viewer, classification tools, and, ultimately, computer-aided detection (CAD) functionality.

The Fenics Intelligent Diagnosis System inclues a mammography viewer, called Smart Viewer, that is equipped with viewing consoles featuring a 10-bit display output powered by medical display boards from Dorval, Quebec-based Matrox Graphics, as well as American College of Radiology classification tools, called Smart eXpert .

The software is also equipped with mechanisms that allow the user to view prior and current images simultaneously for analysis, and features a mirror function that supports zoom, window and level, dynamic contrast, and other functions that simultaneously manipulate both images on two separate 5-megapixel grayscale displays with output of 10 bits per pixel.

The company's CAD software, called Smart Look, is still under development and does not yet have regulatory clearance in the U.S. or Europe.
