Sentinelle, Ultrasonix partner on new system

Canadian MRI technology developer Sentinelle Medical of Toronto and ultrasound vendor Ultrasonix Medical of Richmond, British Columbia, have announced a distribution agreement for the new SonixTouch ultrasound with Aegis navigation.

The combined system will be shown this week as a work-in-progress by both companies at the annual RSNA meeting in Chicago.

The system is designed to co-register MRI or CT scans with real-time ultrasound studies to enable simultaneous anatomic investigation, using two of the three imaging modalities. Once the clinician selects an anatomical target based on information from MRI or CT, an interactive targeting interface provides guidance to the region of interest with an ultrasound transducer, according to the Canadian firms.
