SonoSite ships ultrasound remote control

Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite of Bothell, WA, has begun shipping its compact voice- or touch-activated device for adjusting ultrasound controls remotely.

SonoRemote control is for use with SonoSite M-Turbo or S Series ultrasound systems. It is the size of an iPhone, uses Bluetooth technology, and can adjust system parameters such as depth, gain, freeze, and save from a distance of 10 meters. The device can also be programmed to any voice or language, has been drop-tested from three feet, and can be easily cleaned with hospital disinfectant, according to SonoSite.
