SonoSite ships SonoCalc IMT software

Handheld-ultrasound developer SonoSite of Bothell, WA, has started shipping a new software package called SonoCalc IMT.

The package allows physicians to measure the intimal medial thickness of the common carotid arteries to assess a patient's risk of cardiovascular disease. SonoCalc IMT works in conjunction with SonoSite's Titan scanner.

The shipment of SonoCalc IMT marks SonoSite's entry into the preventive cardiology market, according to the company. The vendor first demonstrated the software at the American Heart Association meeting in November.
