Acuson gets OK for Cypress in Europe, Japan

Ultrasound vendor Acuson has received the CE Mark for distribution of its Cypress low-cost echocardiography system in the European Union and Japan. Weighing less than nine kilograms, Cypress is equipped for all transthoracic echocardiography applications, including adult, pediatric, stress-echo, and contrast agent imaging, according to the Siemens subsidiary. The Mountain View, CA-based company began shipments of Cypress in the U.S. and other world markets in the summer of 2000.
