Varian wins Florida radiosurgery contract

Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems has installed its Novalis Tx radiosurgery platform at a Florida hospital.

Baptist Cancer Institute in Jacksonville is using Novalis Tx for stereotactic body radiotherapy. The platform features beam-shaping technology, precision targeting computers, and robotics that sculpt the treatment beam so that it envelops the tumor while avoiding surrounding tissues and organs as much as possible, according to Varian of Palo Alto, CA.
