Topex's skin cancer system wins Canadian approval

Medical device development company Topex has received Health Canada license approval to market its x-ray therapy system for the treatment of skin cancer.

Topex SRT 100 provides an alternative to surgery for treating basal and squamous cell cancers, especially for difficult regions of the head and neck, according to the Danbury, CT-based vendor. The treatment does not require anesthetics and eliminates the need for skin grafting, Topex said.

The system is distributed in Canada by Harpell Associates in Oakville, Ontario, Topex said.
