Radiotherapy device developer Accuray debuted three product offerings at the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in Philadelphia earlier this month, according to the Sunnyvale, CA-based firm.
The products -- Xsight Lung Tracking System, Xchange Robotic Collimator Changer, and 4D Treatment Optimization and Planning System -- are combined with Accuray's CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery system, the company said.
The Xsight Lung Tracking System uses image processing and registration techniques to lock onto and track a tumor throughout the treatment. It works with Accuray's Synchrony respiratory tracking system to track, detect, and correct for tumor and patient movement, allowing patients to breathe normally without the need for gating or breath-holding techniques, Accuray said.
The Xchange Robotic Collimator Changer has an automated capability to change secondary collimators during treatment, eliminating the need to re-enter the treatment room, while also minimizing related treatment delays, the vendor said.
The 4D treatment optimization and planning system has the option of incorporating a Somatom CT scanner from Malvern, PA-based Siemens Medical Solutions with Accuray's CyberKnife device. The system takes into account the movement of the tumor, as well as the movement and deformation of tissue, the developer said.
