Initia-RT to launch IGRT tracking device

Radiotherapy treatment developer Initia-RT of Tel Aviv, Israel, will introduce its TrackBeam device at next week's American Society for Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in Philadelphia.

The product combines Initia's proprietary TrackLeaf cross-leaf micro multileaf collimator (mMLC ) with its TrackPort miniportal imaging device to provide real-time target tracking using the megavoltage (MV) treatment beam of a linear accelerator.

TrackBeam allows for beam-steering, with real-time target localization and tracking using dynamic aperture shaping. The developers said that the device can be used for intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), and image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT).

Initia-RT is a division of Petach Kiva, Israel-based medical device developer Initia Medical Technologies.
