GE Healthcare has introduced MR-Touch, an MR elastography technique based on technology licensed from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
MR-Touch is a visual palpation technique that employs low-frequency sound waves in combination with MRI to measure liver tissue elasticity, according to the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor.
GE will present MR-Touch at next week's 2009 RSNA meeting in Chicago. It will be commercially available with GE's Optima MR450w 1.5-tesla scanner and requires a modest software upgrade along with a hardware accessory, the company said.
