New patent for Biophan

MRI device developer Biophan Technologies has received a new U.S. patent.

Patent No. 6,949,929 covers active electronic circuits that can sense unwanted electrical energy in a medical device, then create an offsetting signal that effectively cancels it, according to the West Henrietta, NY-based firm. Biophan believes the technology could aid in the safety of a patient with a pacemaker, defibrillator, or nerve stimulator who may be inadvertently placed in an MRI machine.
