Philips opens 7-tesla MRI research center

Multimodality vendor Philips Medical Systems has opened an ultra-high-field MRI research center featuring the company's 7-tesla Achieva scanner in Cleveland, OH.

Support for the installation includes Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University, the Biomedical Research Technology Transfer Council, and the State of Ohio's Third Frontier Program.

The installation will provide ultra-high-field imaging for researchers working in oncology and neurology applications such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's, and multiple sclerosis, according to Andover, MA-based Philips.
