Digirad’s revenues slip in Q3

The sale of fewer gamma cameras due to tighter hospital budgets led to reduced revenue for nuclear medicine firm Digirad of Poway, CA, in the third quarter (end-September 30).

Total revenue decreased to $16.9 million, down 16% compared with $20.2 million in the third quarter of 2008. The company also posted a net loss of $400,000, compared with a net loss of $900,000 in the same quarter of 2008.

For the nine-month period, total revenue was $53.2 million, down 9% compared with $58.4 million for the first nine months of 2008. Digirad posted net income of $400,000 during this period, compared with a net loss of $3.4 million in the first nine months of 2008.

Despite reduced sales, Digirad CEO Todd Clyde said the company is driving toward its goal of a profitable 2009.
