Bracco debuts new CardioGen pump at SNM show

TORONTO - Contrast developer Bracco Diagnostics of Princeton, NJ, launched a new infusion pump for its CardioGen-82 PET radiopharmaceutical at this week's SNM show.

Shown as a work-in-progress, the new cart-based infusion pump features a number of upgrades and enhancements over the firm's previous technology. Bracco has added a touchscreen computer monitor that guides users through CardioGen procedures, and has also added ergonomic improvements to the cart, such as improved wheels and handles, and improved internal ergonomics for easier storage of radiopharmaceuticals and waste products.

Bracco has submitted a 510(k) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the pump, and expects clearance in the third quarter of 2009.
