GE rolls out new cardiac SPECT cameras

GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., is launching a new line of cardiac SPECT cameras based on the vendor's new Alcyone technology platform, which uses digital cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) detectors.

The Discovery NM 530c and Discovery NM/CT 570c systems will debut next week at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) meeting in Orlando, FL. Both employ GE's Alcyone technology, a nuclear cardiology platform that combines CZT detectors, focused pinhole collimation, 3D reconstruction, and stationary data acquisition to improve workflow, dose management, and image quality.

Alcyone's features include enhanced sensitivity and zero equipment motion for greater image quality and energy resolution, enabling the potential for new clinical applications including 3D dynamic acquisitions and simultaneous dual-isotope imaging, according to the company.
