MDS Nordion shows Q4 revenue downturn, year-end upturn

Canadian radioisotope developer MDS Nordion, a division of Toronto-based MDS, reported a decrease in revenues for its fiscal 2006 fourth quarter (end-October 31), although the fiscal year showed positive growth.

MDS Nordion reported revenue for its fourth quarter of $85 million Canadian ($73.52 million U.S.), down 11% from last year's fourth-quarter revenues of $96 million ($83.04 million).

For the full year, revenues grew by 4% to $338 million ($292.4 million) in fiscal 2006 from $325 million ($281.2 million) in fiscal 2005, according to the Kanata, Ontario-based firm.

MDS Nordion said that its overall revenue growth for the year was driven principally by incremental volumes in its cardiac imaging business.
