GE debuts radiopharmacy service, inks deal with UPPI

GE Medical Systems has introduced a turnkey radiopharmacy service at this week's annual Society of Nuclear Medicine meeting in Los Angeles. Called TracerCenter, the offering includes the Waukesha, WI-based vendor's PETtrace and Minitrace cyclotrons, TracerLab series of chemistry synthesis products, quality control, and dispensing services.

In addition, the program covers radiation protection and monitoring equipment, education and training programs, and laboratory accessories and supplies, GE said. Staff from radiochemistry and tracer production technology developer Nuclear Interface (recently acquired by GE) will be participating in the program. TracerCenter is designed to support both research and FDG distribution centers, according to GE.

In other GE SNM news, the firm has formed an alliance with radiopharmaceutical operators organization United Pharmacy Partners (UPPI) of Wilmette, IL. The three-year agreement taps GE as the primary provider of PET and associated PET radiopharmacy technologies and services to UPPI's 52 member sites in the U.S.
