The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared Ysio, a new Siemens Healthcare wireless digital radiography (DR) system, according to the Malvern, PA-based company.
Ysio features a wireless mobile detector and can be customized to include one or two detectors, an optional patient table, and automated or synchronized movements. It can also be configured as a wall stand with an integrated detector, a wall stand and table with a wireless detector, or a mixture of the two, Siemens said.
The device has more than 500 automated system positions and an ergonomic table that can accommodate pediatric, obese, or elderly patients, according to Siemens. The wireless detector handles like a cassette and can be removed from the table and placed directly underneath or next to the patient for exposures that are difficult to take with a fixed detector, the company said.
