Varian nets Norwegian install

Radiation therapy vendor Varian Medical Systems has installed its On-Board Imager device at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway, according to Palo Alto, CA-based Varian.

The system allows physicians to generate radiographic, fluoroscopic, and 3D volumetric x-ray images of a tumor, and compare them with treatment-plan reference images to ensure that the tumor is aligned with the beam prior to image-guided radiation therapy.

In addition to On-Board Imager, all Varian Clinac linear accelerators have been transferred to a VARiS Vision oncology information system, and the former treatment-planning system has been replaced by Varian's Eclipse package, the company said.
