TeraRecon releases Aquarius 3.4

Advanced visualization technology provider TeraRecon has released version 3.4 of its Aquarius workstation and version 1.5 of its AquariusNet Server and accompanying thin-client application.

Aquarius 3.4 offers several new workflow enhancements with added functionality for cardiac and cardiovascular imaging, endovascular intervention planning, CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy), and neuroradiology applications, according to the San Mateo, CA-based vendor.

Protocol-based workflow tools automatically edit 3D volume images on the basis of the study type selected. Direct vessel analysis applies stenosis calculations, with findings automatically sent to a report constructed from context-sensitive templates, TeraRecon said.

For cardiac CT, coronary vessels are automatically segmented, with application of the software's Vessel Trace tools applied for investigation of the lumen and calculation of stenosis. For endovascular intervention planning, optimized workflow has been implemented, allowing detailed measurements for abdominal and thoracic aortic endografts, including techniques for planning advanced fenestrated/branch devices.

For CT colonography, the entire colon is automatically segmented upon loading with flight paths automatically generated, the company said. Report generation is embedded in the diagnostic reading workflow, including support for extracolonic findings.

Included in version 1.5 of the AquariusNet Server is a conferencing feature, where physicians connected via thin client can observe 3D, MIP, and MPR manipulations made in real time by the conference host. Vessel analysis on thin-client PCs is available using advanced CPR functions, which automatically provide vessel stenosis calculations, according to TeraRecon.

Thin-client PC users also have the capability to save scenes and templates on the server for access by remote physicians. PET/CT fusion imaging functionality has been improved, as have workflow enhancements that include scheduled autorouting on the basis of time of day or day of week and the ability to generate reports in Microsoft Word.
