GE Healthcare

GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., will showcase the Senographe Essential full-field digital mammography system in its booth at this year's RSNA show.

Introduced at the 2005 RSNA show, Essential received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in April 2006. The unit boasts a 24 x 31-cm detector size, the largest active field in the industry, according to GE.

GE's densitometry division, GE Lunar, plans to feature iDXA, its bone mineral density system that helps doctors detect, diagnose, and monitor treatment of osteoporosis. The device can measure patients weighing up to 400 lb.

In May, GE launched Lunar Prodigy Primo, a densitometer for use at the point of care. The device is based on GE's Prodigy system, and includes the enCORExpress user interface and OneScan operation technology.
