SonoSite

This Bothell, WA, developer of compact ultrasound scanners will highlight a number of upgrades it has introduced over the past year for its SonoSite Titan platform. The company will also discuss its SonoCalc IMT software for measuring the carotid artery.

Recent upgrades for Titan include the addition of velocity-based color imaging; support for the DICOM print, store, and worklist service classes; split-screen image review; duplex imaging; and vascular and ob/gyn calculations packages. The upgrades have 510(k) clearance, and are available in the U.S. and most major international markets.

SonoCalc IMT consists of automated edge-detection software for the measurement of intima-media thickness of the carotid artery, which is considered an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The software compares a patient's IMT with normative data from several large population-based studies, and creates a graphical report for easier understanding and assessment by both patient and physician, according to the company.

SonoCalc IMT will begin shipping in December in the U.S., and will be available worldwide in the first quarter of 2005.
