Spectrum Dynamics

(Booth 4977) Israeli gamma camera developer Spectrum Dynamics of Caesarea comes to RSNA 2007 having completed seven installations of its D-SPECT cardiac system over this past year.

D-SPECT is designed to reduce acquisition time of nuclear cardiology exams and enhance sensitivity and resolution. The company's BroadView technology increases sensitivity by collecting photons with larger collection angles, using a solid-state detector design and proprietary image reconstruction algorithms, according to the company.

Spectrum claims that D-SPECT can acquire patient data up to10 times faster than a sodium iodide-based gamma camera, and provides up to twice the resolution, which the company hopes will reduce required patient radiation doses and allow clinicians to tailor nuclear cardiology exams to their patients.

A myocardial perfusion SPECT protocol that allows a complete pharmaceutical stress and resting study to be completed in less than 30 minutes is under evaluation as a work-in-progress at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to Spectrum.
