Vital Images gets patent for 3-D automation

Vital Images of Minneapolis has hired Albert Emola as president and CEO. Emola joins the 3-D software developer after running his own management consulting practice for start-up firms. Prior to consulting, Emola was president and CEO of Flexmedics, a developer of nitinol-based medical products. Emola will take over executive duties that had been held on an interim basis by Douglas Pihl, the chairman of Vital Images.
