Intermagnetics to sell new MRI RF coils

MRI technology developer Intermagnetics General of Latham, NY, has announced that it will be distributing a new line of radio-frequency coils for MRI scanners. The coils were developed by UltraImage of Redmond, WA, and will be sold by IGC’s IGC-Medical Advances subsidiary of Milwaukee.

The first of the coils will be for imaging the temporal lobe of the brain, and is expected to ship early this year after receiving Food and Drug Administration clearance. The other coils are for bilateral brachial plexus imaging and for detailed imaging of the carotid arteries. They should begin shipping later this year, after they are cleared.

IGC said it expects the UltraImage deal to add substantially to IGC’s RF coil revenues.
